Apparently any deviation from the load the gun was regulated for originally is apt to have adverse effects on how a double shoots. Which can make developing a load for one an exercise in frustration...

you will likely have no worries with pressures using black or even 777. But as stated the right load that will regulate is the main thing. Sounds like a beauty, I love those doubles.I have used...

I looked throuigh several Kynoch ctg catalogues 1902-c1955 and a few ctg books and the only load listed is 70 gr BP and 480 gr bt. Only variation was DCCo which listed 75 gr BP and 480 gr bt.

The original loadings you lads are providing are great...gives me some idea of what the rifle had to have been regulated with. I am somewhat limited at present by bullet availability. My Coyote mould...

Here's more info about the Paton rifle. The action is straight Jones underlever w/o third fastener, crossbolt, dolls head etc. The chambers don't appear to have a reamed recess immediately forward of...

Otto,I wouldn't let the lack of a third bight in this action bother you, ( cross bolt, dolls head or whatever,) as these generally don't contribute much to action strength. The action bar must flex...

Guys,Pukka is absolutely correct regarding the minimal contribution a doll's head, or cross bolt lug has on the overall strength of a break open double-barrel action. They serve only to minimize...
